观音诞节 Compleanno di Guan Yin / Guan Yin's Birthday Festival

观音诞节 Compleanno di Guan Yin,  Dea della Misericordia, è un festival cinese di religione popolare. Può anche essere interpretato anche come il giorno dell'illuminazione della Dea della Misericordia, Guan Yin.

Guan Yin è uno dei quattro Budda, nota come la Dea della Misericordia. La sua venerazione fiorì durante la dinastia Tang quando le donne cinesi la pregarono per la fertilità, accendendo candele e bruciando incensi. 

Il suo compleanno è celebrato quattro volte ogni anno lunisolare; il 19 febbraio (nel 2017 cade il 16 marzo), il 19 giugno, il 19 settembre e il 19 novembre.

Narra la leggenda che Guan Yin fosse la terza figlia di Miao Zhuang. Quando il padre si ammalò gravemente i monaci chiesero alle persone a lui care di sacrificare mani e occhi. Mentre le prime due figlie di Miao Zhuang si rifiutarono, Guan Yin si sacrificò facendo guarire il padre.

 

Ad ogni compleanno di Guan Yin i credenti devoti, giovani o meno, si precipitano al tempio offrendo alla Dea della Misericordia frutta, tè, pesca e tagliatelle.

观 音 诞 节 Guan Yin's (Goddess of Mercy) Birthday Festival is a Chinese festival of folk religion. It can be also interpreted as the lighting day of the Goddess of Mercy, Guan Yin.
Guan Yin is one of the four Buddha, known as the Goddess of Mercy. Her veneration flourished in the Tang Dynasty when the Chinese women prayed for fertility, lighting candles and burning incense.
Her birthday is celebrated four times every lunisolar year; February 19th (in 2017 falls on March 16th), June 19th, September 19th and November 19th.
As per the legend, Guan Yin was the third daughter of Miao Zhuang. When her father fell ill, the monks asked the people, dear to him, to sacrifice their hands and eyes. While Miao Zhuang's first two daughters refused, Guan Yin accepted sacrifice, healing his father.
For each of Guan Yin's birthdays devout believers, young or not, rush to the temple offering to the Goddess of Mercy fruit, tea, peache and noodles.
