重阳节
La Festa Chongyang (Festa del Doppio Nove) cade il 9° giorno del nono mese lunare, quest'anno il 9 ottobre. 
Il Libro dei Mutamenti, 易经 Yi Jing (o 周易 Zhou Yi, dal nome del Duca di Zhou) dava valore 阳 Yang (maschile) al numero "9". Essendo il 9° mese lunare, il nove si raddoppia, portando 重 Chong (doppio) in aggiunta al valore 阳 Yang, ecco il nome 重阳 "Chongyang".
La pronuncia del "9", raddoppiato ricorda 久久 che significa "a lungo" o "lunga vita". Un nome simile da alla celebrazione un valore di buon auspicio.
La leggenda narra che, durante la Dinastia Han Orientale un uomo di nome Hengjing riuscì a combattere il male salendo su una montagna. Per questo motivo il Chongyang Jie è pure chiamata "Festa dell'Altitudine Crescente". 上升高 "Shangsheng Gao"
高 "gao" ha la stessa pronuncia di 糕 "gao" (torta), di conseguenza in questo giorno si mangiano i dolci del "Doppio Nove", 重阳糕.
Il 9° giorno del nono mese lunare è anche un momento in cui fioriscono i crisantemi. In Cina ve ne sono di tanti tipi e la gente li ha amati fin dai tempi antichi.
La gente ama anche bere vino del crisantemo, le donne, poi, le mettono nei capelli o li appendono sulle finestre o intorno alle porte.
Nel 1989, il governo cinese ha dedicato questa festa agli anziani, di cui il nome "Giorno degli Anziani". Le generazioni più giovani portano gli anziani a fare passeggiate sui monti o regalano dei doni.

The younger generations lead the elderly relatives to go for walk in the mountains or give gifts.
