Storia di ordinaria amicizia / Short story of a common friendship

La mia amica cinese sta scrivendo la tesi, io l'aiuto con l'italiano. Per farlo ho bisogno di capire esattamente che cosa vuole dire.
My Chinese girlfriend is writing the thesis, I help her translate it into Italian. To do that I need to understand exactly what she means.

Parliamo di Zhuangzi, di buddismo, di taoismo. Ogni volta che riesco ad addentrarmi nelle idee da lei espresse mi sembra di aver trovato un piccolo tesoro che luccica nel buio.
We talk about Zhuangzi, Buddhism, Taoism. Whenever I can go deeply into the ideas she has expressed, I seem to have found a little treasure that shines in the darkness.

Parliamo in tre lingue: cinese, inglese, italiano, usiamo dizionari e le dita delle mani, finchè non arriviamo ad appropriarci entrambe del significato giusto.
We speak in three languages: Chinese, English, Italian, use dictionaries and our fingers, until we both come to get the right meaning.

Quando finiamo siamo stanche ma contente, anzì, io le dico "Sono orgogliosa di poterti aiutare."
When we finish the work we are tired but happy, indeed, I say "I am proud to be able to help you."

Lei non capisce la parola "orgoglio", lo cerca con il traduttore, trova difficile persino la parola italiana. Io vorrei aiutarla ma gli occhiali li ho già messi via e così provo a sillabarlo:
"or" con la erre, "go" e poi "glio" con la gi, la elle, la i e poi la o - ORGOGLIO.
She doesn't understand the Italian word "orgoglio"  (pride), she seeks the word using the translator, even the Italian word is difficult for her. I want to help her but I don't wear glasses and so I try to spell it: "or" with the r, "go" and then "glio" with g, l, i and o  - ORGOGLIO.

Quando esce la parola, lei capisce. Spalanca gli occhi e mi domanda incredula: "E' vero?"

When the word comes out she gets the meaning. Eyes widen she asks me incredulously: "Is it true?"
