La Festa del Cibo Freddo è una festa tradizionale cinese, si svolge 105 giorni dopo il solstizio d'inverno, uno o due giorni prima della Festa Qingming. È la stagione delle vacanze, all'inizio della giornata non è consentito fumare e si mangiano solo cibi freddi. Le generazioni successive avevano sviluppato usanze come lo spazzamento rituale, l'escursionismo, il giuoco dell'altalena, quello del gancio da traino e il combattimento di galli. La Festa del Cibo Freddo un tempo era conosciuto come la più grande festa cinese. E’l’unica festività che prende il nome dall'abitudine alimentare.
The Cold Food Festival is a traditional Chinese festival, it takes place 105 days after the winter solstice, one or two days before the Qingming Festival. It is the holiday season, at the beginning of the day smoking is not allowed and only cold food is eaten. Later generations had developed customs such as ritual sweeping, hiking, swing play, hitch play, and cockfighting. The Cold Food Festival was once known as the largest Chinese festival. Molte persone potrebbero conoscere solo il Ching Ming, ma non la Festa del Cibo Freddo che precede Ching Ming. Con lo sviluppo dei tempi, questa antica festa è gradualmente scomparsa. La gente di oggi potrebbe non avere familiarità con questa festa che era estremamente importante durante le dinastie Tang e Song. Durante questa festa gli anziani dovevano visitare le case intorno e inserire penne di pollo nelle ceneri per non rischiare di essere puniti. Many people may only know the Ching Ming, but not the Cold Food Festival that precedes Ching Ming. With the development of the times, this ancient festival has gradually disappeared. People today may not be familiar with this festival which was extremely important during the Tang and Song dynasties. During this feast, the elders had to visit the houses around and put chicken feathers in the ashes in order not to risk being punished. This tradition has to do with the myth of Jie Zitui, consequently people were ordered not to light the fire on this day, in order to comfort his spirit.

Nel frattempo dobbiamo rendere omaggio agli antenati, sostenere la cultura tradizionale e cambiare costumi in relazione al cambiamento dei tempi, fare delle gite, offrire un mazzo di fiori, piantare un albero e apprezzare il tempo bello. È necessario cogliere il momento presente e fare bene il lavoro di ogni giorno, ma anche divertirsi nel tempo e godersi la vita.
